Robot Wars

A friend of mine owns an excellent robot shop called finger tech robotics (http://fingertechrobotics.com/) and they were hosting a robotics challenge this weekend. I decided to snag a couple shots, but rather than focus on the robots I had more enjoyment catching some of the kids playing with the demo bots. Although some of the pictures are captured behind the safety plexi-glass, I think they add a unique texture to the photos.

Bobby B

I was watching TV when an ad for Dakota Dunes popped up. It reminded me of the good old time when a bunch of buddies would go to the casino with a single Borden (aka a $100 bill because Robert Borden is depicted on it) and try to walk out with a matching set or two. This gave me an idea how to use our new photo studio product lighting kit. I decided to take a couple 'portraits' of some famous Canadians. Can you figure out who is who and which bill they belong to?

The Exhibition

On Friday, Shauna and I drove out to outskirts of town to view the Perseid meteor shower. I took my tripod and camera with me hoping to catch a picture of the shooting stars. However, I was unsuccessful in capturing any of the galactic event. On our ride home, we stumbled upon the Saskatoon Exhibition and I thought this would be a perfect time to remedy my disappointing photo opp and try some night photography. Nothing like a pitch black night, with rotating neon lights to provoke one's creative juices. Although my first attempts were a success, the picture compositions and framing were terrible. I forgot all the basic rules of photography with all the nighttime excitement. Instead Shauna agreed to take me back to the Ex Sunday night for some quality photo shoots. Below are a few of the shots I snagged. Once again though, will all the excitement leading up this event, I forgot to charge my camera battery and only snagged about 30 pics, only 10 of which I am happy with, before the camera died. Another rookie mistake for this amateur photog. Anyways I am happy with the experience and glad to see some of the photo turned out so well.

Photos OF the Fringe

I decided I needed a break from the tedious task of porting data for 300+ individuals from Prism to Excel and post some of the pictures I took during the Fringe. A fellow photographer brought to my attention that I should resize and watermark my pictures before posting as well. So, hopefully these photos are easier to view. Unfortunately, I was only able to adjust a couple pictures, but I will be posting more in the near future.

Fringe 2010

Shauna convinced me to join her in the Saskatoon Fringe activities this year. Although I was a bit hesitant, I reluctantly accepted and put my work out there to the world. To my surprise it was accepted with many warm welcomes. Shauna and I had a great showing and had an excellent turn out. Plus, we meet many awesome new people and fantastic new enthusiasts as well.
Soon to be added here will be a sample of some of the work that was displayed at the Fringe. Please check out Shauna's blog for here imaginative contributions to the Fringe this year in the meantime (shaunabuck.blogspot.com).
